Post by adam »

I am trying to load .lset screen after cloning the MASTERmachstdmilllathe profile but when i try to use the load screen button on settings page i can only chose the .set files
i have read thru the MSM readme many time but seem to still be missing the magic combination

Hi Adam,

As you may know, Mach determines whether it is in lathe or mill mode by what type of screen set file is loaded: .set or .lset.
When running MSM, there are two choices of base MSM mach screen set files -
1) for mill mode, mach should be loading (only) MachStdMill.set (found in the mach install directory, typically c:\mach3).
2) for lathe mode, mach should be loading (only) MachStdMIllLathe.lset

To put mach with MSM in lathe mode, use the mach menus (view, load screens) and load up MachStdMillLathe.lset
You will now be running mach in lathe mode. Close mach (to get the change saved in the mach profile) and then restart mach/msm.

Now then, within MSM, the MSM choices for screens (resolution etc) are done from the "load screen" button on the settings common screen. MSM knows what mode (mill/lathe) mach is in and only shows you the choices appropriate for the current mode. Now that mach is in lathe mode, MSM will show you lathe mode screen choices.
