Probe T# not mounted

Post by Cemlhh »

I have read your manual a few times and No matter what I do I just can't get this to work.
I have the latest version of both Machstdmill and Mach3

Them problem is I keep getting Probe T# not mounted.
I have checked the hardware page and made sure the Probe lights up when touched.
I have set up the Probe in the tool table.
I go to the tool page to mount the tool
Type in T2m6 and hit enter (probe is tool 2)
the Next Tool # shows the probe tool
The machine goes to the TC pos and asks for me to mount the tool.
I hit the cycle start and the machine moves down touches off the touch plate and goes back to its position.
current tool screen shows tool 2 probe
I go to the WC offset probing screen and click on probe Z and all it does is tell me (Probe T# not Mounted)

Now what do I do? I have tried every thing I can think of.

Thanks for any info you can give

Hi,
Let's walk thru it step by step -

1) Go to the WC Offfset page, probing tab and look a the Probing Op Parameters panel; top DRO, Left side is labeled "Probe Tool #".
What is the value in that DRO?

From your post I'd expect it to be 2. This DRO defines the Tool # that MSM will use as the probe tool.
If you are doing T2M6 and this DRO is not set = 2, then you are telling MSM to mount a tool number that is not what MSM knows the probe tool to be.

2) Now that we've confirmed the probe tool # setting; let mount the tool.
Go to the tooling page. Upper left panel is the Current Tool panel - this displays the info the the tool that mach currenlty has mounted.
Is the Current Tool # = 2 = the Probe tool # DRO from the probing page?

(I'll use "2" as the assume tool number for the rest of this conversation)

What is the value of the current tool DRO at this step?

3) If the current tool # is not 2, then we need to mount tool #2 (the probe tool).
Use MDI just as you have been to do T2M6
At the end of the tool change sequence, what is the value of the current tool # DRO on the tooling page?
It should be 2.
If it is not 2, what is it?

4) If the current tool # DRo is = 2, then we have the result we expected: we mounted T2 and after the tool change sequence is complete, Tool #2 is mounted. Since tool #2 is also the probe tool, the probe tool is mounted.

5) go back to the probing page -
Try a simple probe operation (ex: the "Probe X+" green arrow).
Do you get a "probe tool not mounted message" when you try this?

Thank you. I feel like a DA. I had every thing right but the tool number on the Wc offset page.
Again thanks
