I pulled this post from the old supprot forum as it has useful info -

New MSM lathe users that are interested in using a rear tool post instead of a front tool post may find this helpful (or confusing, there are many combinations). This doc is useful when trying to figure out the interaction between front rear tool posts, arc directions and mach option settings.
