Hi new to forum and MSM. just downloaded and installed yesterday. so far so good, but have a couple questions. when i installed mill profile everything went well. when i loaded Lathe i used cloned mill profile and followed instructions in read me file. also looked in forum and found how to load .lset files. question 1 when i load lathe profile in the upper right corner of mach page it still says Mach Std Mill and not Mach Std Lathe. is this a problem that i need to be concerned with? so far everything that i have experimented with works OK, but still wondering. 2nd question, and i haven't read through instruction manual yet but i can't change the current tool # in the tooling set up page. am i missing something here? Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

question 1 when i load lathe profile in the upper right corner of mach page it still says Mach Std Mill and not Mach Std Lathe.
When in lathe mode wiht MSM the upper right corner will say:
MachstdMill (in green) and then on the next line
Lathe Mode (in yellow).
It's partially a historical thing.... MSM was invented for mill. much later I added Lathe support and I kept using MSM as the package name - so it will still say MS"Mill" even though it is in lathe mode.

I bet you are trying to type a tool number into the current tool DRO - right?
Please see this sticky post:

That post was written for Mill, but is just as true for lathe mode (the bugs in mach are the same).

That's normal -
MSM Pro edition installs in trial mode. It will run as a fully functional professional edition for 30 days in trial mode.
When an MSM licensed is purchased, the license info is used to activate MSM (chapter 16 of the user manual in case you want to know about the details) which converts the trial installation into a licensed installation (takes abotu 15 seconds if the PC is online to the internet).
If MSM is not activated in 30 days and the trial period expires, it refuses to start (as the trial period is over).
The software is set up this way so that users can try all the pro features before purchasing a license.

I understand the trial mode and if things continue to work as advertised i'll soon be a paying customer. I was just wondering with my last post if yellow text was normal or if i needed to do something else on install to turn it green. You said Yellow is normal, I'm good to go then.
thanks
