Probing changes ports and pins setup

Post by stephenmhall »

I have my probe on input 10 of my controller, active low. this works fine in testing but as soon as I press any of the probing buttons it stops working and if I check ports and pins again the probe has been changed to pin 14 active high. If I swap it to pin 14 it still does not work as it is set active high as soon as any button is pressed.

Hi,
Please give me some basic info so that I can figure out where to start for diagnosing this.

1) Windows version?
2) What is the Motion control device? Parallel port?
3) MSM version?
3a) Are you setup for a one-signal or a two-signal interface?

Ok Sorry I fixed this issue by rtfm. My bad had to close down Mach to save pin settings. However I still have an issue in that any Z probe moves go
  • fast down, detect
    move up
    slow down, detect
start going down again until you hit the emergency stop.
Is it possible to look at the actual scripts that do the moves?

To answer your questions,
  • Windows 10
    Mach3 USB Motion Card (AKZ250)
MSM_v2.0.6_Professional, I have the newest version but not installed it yet
Just a single 3D probe installed currently, Active High

OK, that's good news.

That device number is a "leafboy" board. Please see these threads:

Sorry to say it, but the leafboy boards are known to have multiple problems with the way they implement probing operations for mach 3. It is why they are an unsupported motion device for MSM.

The source code for MSM is not available to users.

What is the full release version of windows 10? You can find that by typing the winver command into the serach command line.
Versions after 1709 are known to have severe problems with mach3.
see http://www.calypsoventures.com/forums/v ... ?f=4&t=519

please also let me know the full versionnumber of mach 3 that you are running. Not all versions have all features and there are serious conflicts between win 10 and some versions of mach 3.

Alas that is a motion device which is known to have probing implementation problems.

Please update as we do not offer support for old versions of MSM.
