MachStdMill Production Release: 2.0.6

Post by DaveCVI »

<Nov 5, 2012>
MSM 2.0.6 has been released.

There is only one change (and effects the Pro version only): A change of URL in the activation dialog to match a change in the CVI software store.

MachStdMill Production Release: 2.0.7

Post by DaveCVI »

MSM 2.0.7 has been released.

Minor bug fixes in this release.

One change concerns running Mach and MSM on Windows with non-US regional settings.
Please see the release notes item 4.53 in the release notes.
Mach does not support non-US regional settings for Windows and some Functions will not work correctly in such configurations and MSM can not compensate for Mach's absence of international support.

MachStdMill Production Release: 2.0.8

Post by DaveCVI »

MSM 2.0.8 has been released.

The 6 Axis support and the Mill-Turn improvements have transitioned from Beta to Production release status.
The Plasma cutter specific screens in the 2.0.7.9 Beta did not transition to production release status. There was insufficient reporting of testing of the plasma support. If anyone wants to do additional work with the plasma screens, contact CVI (it's easy to whip up a new beta with the Plasma screens in it).

There were some minor bug fixes included in this release.
Please see the release notes for more information.

MachStdMill Production Release: 2.0.9

Post by DaveCVI »

MSM 2.0.9 has been released.

There is one technical change between MSM 2.0.8 and 2.0.9:
The default Homing action ( the code run when you click the "refAll Home" button), now defaults to the stock Mach 1024 homing logic.
Documentation has also been updated to reflect this change.

In MSM 2.0.8 the default logic was updated to reference all enabled axes; this was done to compliment the MSM 6 axis screens. If an axis is enabled, it was referenced as part of a "ref-all" action.
Unfortunately, homing is an area where each machine can be a little bit different as to what it needs. A problem was discovered with slaved axis (typically gantry) setups and the multi axis reference code would hang on the slave axis and not complete the homing/reference operation.

The complexity of this area and the need to customize homing sequences is why the RefAll-Home script has always been supplied in source form.
Alas, There does not appear to be a referencing combination that will handle all machine configurations by default.
For better or worse, this is the action that most mach users (and those new to MSM) expect.
Therefore, the default action has been set to do exactly what the stock mach 1024 screen set does. This means that by default you now only get referencing for only 4 axes. That's ok for 3 axis mill users but not so attractive for 5 or 6 axis machines.

Those running 5 or 6 axis machines, and those that need the code to handle mach's reference operation timing problems will want to alter the refAll-Home script. it is very simple to change from the "1024 action" to the "improved MSM action" - just change one line in the script.

See the release notes and the source script for more information.

MachStdMill Production Release: 2.0.10

Post by DaveCVI »

MSM 2.0.10 beta is now available.

With this MSM release you can now interface both probes and touch plates without requiring external electronics to do so.
By using two pins on your break out board and the MSM "two signal" interface option, the need for external electronics to combine active high and active low signals has been removed.
Please see information in Chapter 6 of the MSM mill user manual and the release notes for details of the Two Signal interface option.

Latest MachStdMill Production Release: 2.0.12

Post by DaveCVI »

MSM 2.0.12 has been released.
This release is a maintenance fix for the 12x9 MIll-Turn screens; The run page did not have the same 3 axis layout as the 10x7 resolution version.

As this correction is only for MIll-Turn, the personal edition has not been changed from 2.0.10.

MachStdMill Production Release: 2.1.6

Post by DaveCVI »

MSM 2.1.6 has been released.
This release had significant internal restructuring to work around problems with the Mach Script compiler.
The Mach compiler was not actually creating new binaries from source files; as a result features that were thought to be in the later 2.0.x (2.0.10 and higher) were not all actually present in the compiled MSM binaries.

There are no new end-user features in 2.1.6 vs 2.0.12.
