Re: Well probing was fun while it lasted!

Post by DaveCVI »

hi,
No problem re versions, I just ask so that I don't make bad assumptions (and it helps me narrow things down).
If the MSM DL is recent, it's 2.0.10 then.
I'm unaware of any bugs re probing in the smooth stepper (we've not seen one in a couple of years).
Win 7 is fine.
For this discussion, the mach ver may or may not be important - so we'll have to keep that in mind.
I recommend mach 3.43.66 - it's the latest mach lock down version and what most MSM users are running.

I don't think the other thread is relevant here... the script that MSM uses was written from scratch and has nothing to do with the old mach blue screen sets and those scripts. That makes me doubt the "zero first" as a work around theory... but strange coincidences have happened. The thread talks about "zeroing" the axis first - in this instance it means setting the work coordinate zero.

That does bring to mind a question: Do you have home switches and is your machine referenced? I.e. does the system know where machine coord 0 is physically?

If you can get it to act up, we can trace it to see what it happening. I'll send you some debug log instruction via a direct email.

Hi Dave,

I will verify those versions tonight.

Well that is an interesting point, I only recently installed home switches, and I may or may not have referenced the axis' when I had that problem occur. I will try to play around with it tonight and see what it takes to make the problem repeat.

I got your email regarding bug reporting. Thanks.

Peter.
