X axis reversed

Post by Calum »

Hi Dave,

I have just started setting up MSM Turn and notice that the X axis seems to be reversed when compaired to your documentation. On my installation X- is towards the top of the screen, above zero, with X+ towards the bottom. In you document X+ is up and X- down, is there a way to change this?

Hi Calum,

There is not a way in MSM to reverse the X axis direction. So to make the machine match the lathe conventions, you'll need to reverse the physical direction of the X axis.

I think that's what you'll want to do anyhow - as MSM uses the standard convention for a lathe re axis directions.
For the X axis, X=0 is usually the center of the piece being turned, thus it makes sense (at lest to me?) for X+ to be away from the center. That way putting X at 1 results in a part diameter of 2.
